TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - A top Honda Motor Co. executive said Wednesday the company’s new gas-electric hybrid will be priced lower than the Toyota Prius, its prime competitor.

The new five-door car will only be available with a hybrid powertrain. It will be smaller than Honda’s Civic and also will be priced less than a hybrid gas-electric version of the Civic, said Richard Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co.

Speaking to reporters at an industry seminar in Traverse City, Colliver said the new hybrid will be launched in April 2009.

Cold Air Intakes are becoming more and more popular in the performance car parts scene. A cold air intake replaces your oem air intake and creates more airflow into your engine resulting in a horsepower increase. Air intakes are also said to increase gas mileage. In this article I will talk about the best and worst forced air induction systems and what to look for when buying one.

Intakes come in many shapes and sizes. Its best to stay away from really cheap ones that you may find on ebay for example. These are not made from high quality parts and usually do not fit your car right. They also do not include any bolts or tubing you may need to install it.

The best intakes come from the brand AEM. Over the years I have had many AEM cold air intakes and they never seize to amaze me. They give you the most horsepower gain and the best sound. Although they can be quite expensive, they give you the most bang for your buck. AEM now has the new V2 Cold air intake which delivers more air and cooler air to your engine.

The next best brand would be K & N. They have been a leader in air filters and intakes for years. They provide maximum air flow to get the most power out of your engine they can. Another really great brand is Injen. They have pulled up fast on all the leading brands of forced air induction manufacturers. THe injen intakes are dyno tuned specifically for your vehicle. They feature the mega ram technology that regulates the volume of air flow.

These are some of the best cold air intake manufacturers to look for when your buying car parts. Just remember that when buying car parts, you get what you pay for.

The Apexi WS2 or World Sport 2 Exhaust is one of the top selling exhaust in the auto parts and accessories industry today. In this article I am going to share my experience with this exhaust from buying it to test driving it.

I bought the Apexi WS2 Exhaust from ebay for about $450 plus shipping. The exhaust came with detailed installation instructions and also some apexi stickers. I installed the exhaust on a 1998 Honda Prelude. I ran into a little trouble with the oxygen sensor. After I installed the cat back exhaust, my engine repair light was on. This is due to the Oxygen sensor not working correctly. I had to buy a oxygen sensor bypass module from ebay for a couple bucks.

Once installed I was very happy with the overall performance and look of the apexi ws2 exhaust. It is very similar looking to the oem exhaust with a touch of higher performance. This exhaust is perfect for anyone who doesn’t want the loud “ricey” exhaust. When I am hitting high RPM’s the apexi exhaust doesn’t over power the sound of the engine which is what I was looking for. It has a smooth, deep sounding pitch that isn’t annoying or too loud.

I also noticed higher performance after the exhaust was installed. When dynoed, I saw a 18 horsepower increase, and was very happy about that. Along with a high flow cat, this exhaust can really increase the performance of your car.

The apexi WS2 exhaust is perfect for the tuner that wants to increase horsepower and perofrmance without having your car sound like a weed whacker. At $450 the Apexi WS2 exhaust is a steal for any auto parts and accessories enthusiast.

The JL Audio W7 is the biggest baddest subwoofer on the market today. JL Audio, being one of the top manufacturers of car audio systems, pushed their limits came out with the W7. The JL Audio W7 is priced anywhere between $300 and $500 depending on what size subwoofer you get. I purchased the 13″ JL Audio w7 by itself from eBay for about $450.

The W7 has power handling capabilities of 1500 watts. Some say this isn’t much, but this is true wattage rating. Unlike other companies JL Audio gives true numbers meaning the actual input and output rating. When I got the thing I was blown away by the shear weight of it. Its gotta be about 50-100 pounds. Since I got the JL Audio subwoofer, I thought I’d go all out and get the JL Audio amplifier also. I purchases the JL Audio 1000/1 Monoblock amplifier from them. This gives 1000 watts RMS, which is all you need for this monster.

After hooking everything up, I was blown away…literally. This sub is the loudest single subwoofer I have ever came across. The JL Audio W7 simply shook my brain, along with everything else in my car. I would not recommend this sub to anyone who doesn’t want to be heard miles away. The W7 puts out the lowest, deepest, heart stopping bass imaginable.
